Active ingredients- Vitex negundo (Lagundi) powdered leaves

General information

Ascof Forte is from the group of other cough expectorants and suppressants. It is administered for treating cough.

Ascof indications

Ascof Forte is useful for relief of cough owing to flu and common. It also is prescribed for treating bronchospasm in chronic bronchitis, severe bronchial asthma and other bronchopulmonary problems.

In addition it is use for relief of reversible, placid to temperate bronchospasm (maintenance, prophylactic prescription) in grown-ups & children suffering from obstructive airway syndrome.

Ascof Forte expectorant may also be prescribed for treating other ailments not mentioned above.

Dosage and administration

Ascof Forte tablet

Adults- 300 to 600 Mg to be administered in divided dosage;

Children between 7 to 12 yrs of age- 300 Mg to be administered in divided dosage;

Ascof Forte Syrup

Adult- 300 to 600 Mg (i.e- 5 to 10 ml 0r 1 to 2 tablespoon) everyday;

Children between 7 to 12 yrs of age

15 mg (depending on the weight);

2 tablespoon in kids greater than 40 Kg;

1½ tablespoon in kids weighing between 20 to 40 kg;

1 tablespoon in kids weighing between 15.5 to 20 kg;

½ tablespoon in kids weighing between 10 to 15.5 kg;

Ascof Forte can be administered with or without food but it is advisable to be taken after food for avoiding GI interactions.

Ascof Side effects

Ascof Forte Tablets

 Itching, skin rashes, vomiting, nausea, stomach ache and diarrhea have been reported in the past. These are generally temporary reactions which pass with time. Consult your doctor in case any side effects become recurring, frequent and troublesome. In case of any severe symptoms of hypersensitivity ( symptoms include hives, rashes, difficulty in breathing, chest pain and swelling of the mouth, face, throat, eyes, tongue or lips), stop using the drug immediately and seek for emergency medical help.
