What Are the Medicinal Uses of Calcarea Phosphorica?

Calcarea phosphorica is the very same thing as calcium phosphate, the mineral salt that is also the primary constituent of teeth and bones. Basically, it is produced chemically from diluted phosphoric acid added to calcium hydroxide (also known as lime water). This is why it is also referred to as “phosphate of lime”. It is, unluckily, frequently confused with many other similar herbal remedies, the most common including Phosphoricum acidum, Tuberculinum, calcarea carbonica, phosphorus, and chamomilla. A person who takes this remedy because of a medical condition is referred to as “Calcarea phosphorica individual (or childâ in the case of children). There are basically two factors that give rise to the Calcarea phosphorica case, namely, nutritional deficiency, and unpleasant news.

Nutritional deficiency is mandatory to produce the standard case particularly on the physical level. For instance, the symptoms of Calcarea phosphorica children include late learning to talk and/or walk, late development of teeth, bone formation problems and diseases, rachitis, and anemic conditions. Some other symptoms include sutures that won't unite, fractures bones that won't re-connect, fontanelles that are open, difficult or slow recovery after acute illnesses, and emaciation. Literature fifty to one hundred years ago was abundant with case descriptions of Calcarea phosphorica children treated with homeopathic medicine since nutrition during that time was not as improved as it is today. The classic picture, however, can still be encountered frequently today especially in developing countries.

Hearing bad news unexpectedly, like nutritional deficiency, can cause an imbalance in a person resulting in an illness. Aside from the physical conditions resulting from the genes inherited by a child from his parents, a Calcarea phosphorica case can be triggered by daily psychological tensions such as anger, insecurity, sorrow, rejection, insult, and opposition. The sudden knowledge of some bad news causes the most devastating effect. For example, the patient gets an urgent phone call from his brother notifying him that their parents got involved and died in a car accident. He reacts to the news by becoming extremely overwhelmed, distressed, and he becomes unable to cope. This event that started as a temporal imbalance then becomes a chronic illness because he is now terrified of hearing bad news and becomes distressed every time bad news does arrive.

It is useful to note that the type of news usually involved in Calcarea phosphorica cases do not include romantic heartaches and other unpleasant things brought about by romantic relationships. This is because such cases are usually expected; there are probably many earlier events that were hints to the impending disagreement or separation. Only news that is completely unexpected is usually observed.

If the abovementioned symptoms have been observed in a child or individual, the Calcarea phosphorica remedy should be considered immediately.
